Deck The Halls With Glitter…..

It is with totally honesty that I say, between the months of January and November I am totally anti – glitter.  I don’t know what it is about December, though.  There’s something about it that brings out my inner Drag Queen but i’m not complaining! Christmas is all about the sparkle, however don’t let me fool you into thinking i’ll be dressing like a disco ball; i’ll be keeping it subtle and sticking to the eye zone only!

This year, to keep the balance right, I’ll be teaming my glittered eye with a moody lip.  I’ll be keeping the eye quite light in tone to keep it as bright as possible! To start with I always use a base, you don’t have to though but as i’m a creature of habit, i’m going to apply a thin layer of MAC paint in ‘bare canvas’.  This is just to give the shadow something to anchor itself to and to make sure the look stays put for as long as possible!

To the base, it doesn’t really matter which colour shadow you opt for as long as you keep it muted and quite neutral.  Then, using a MAC 219 pencil brush, apply MAC shadow in ‘plum dressing’ along the socket line only and blend upwards using a blending brush.  Using a MAC 239 shader brush, push MAC ‘kitchmas’ pigment all over the lid.  The next part is totally up to your own preferences but as its christmas, I thought ‘why the hell not?!’  Using a MAC 266 angled brush, apply a thin line of duo eyelash adhesive to your socket line, thin enough so you can still see the shadow line you have created with ‘plum dressing’. Then with a clean brush, dip into a pot of dark plum glitter and apply where you have placed the glue.  Be careful to buy the extra fine glitter and if you’re not comfortable with using it, leave this out as the sparkle from the pigment should be enough to give you a truly party worthy eye!

Finally, finish the eyes with a thin line of MAC fluid line in ‘black track’ and apply lashes of your choice, for me though, I think MAC lashes in 2 would be perfect for this party season look.

To complete the look, you’ll need quite a vampy lip.  Well this is what I’ll be aiming for anyway!  It literally is the easiest thing ever and you’ll be channeling your inner vixen in  minutes.  Line the whole lip with MAC pencil in ‘beet’ and then over it apply MAC lipstick in ‘rocker’.  I am aware that there is a lot of MAC products in this but it’s so simple to find duplicates and you can use the principle to pretty much try this look in any colours you want!

Whether you opt for the glitter or not, this look screams Party Season & I’m so excited to let my hair down and celebrate! Tag me ‘plainquirky’ on Instagram to share your party season looks!
