Eyes that shine….
Creme shadows used to come with a warning sign, as creasing was a common side effect that was to be guaranteed after a few hours wear. Those days are gone and with the party season looming ever closer, the need for a metallic eye has never been more prominent. If you’re unsure of how to achieve this look, there are plenty of ‘how to’ videos on Youtube to help you look your best and get a metallic eye that’s worthy of a runway.
Many shadows are so misbehaved, they refuse to stay put without the use of a primer. I don’t do naughty behaviour so it makes my insides cart-wheel that I can achieve the Christmas ‘shiny eye’ without a murmur of the dreaded crease!
Step in Bobbi Brown’s award-winning long wear cream shadows. They glide onto the lid and are so easy to blend, you can fool your friends into thinking you’re a pro make up artist! Yesterday I bought my first christmas gift to myself (come on! We all do it…don’t we?!) and snapped up a creme shadow in ‘black violet’. I’ve been quite experimental of late and found myself being a traitor to the more muted tones I normally wear. If you’re wanting a subtle look wear these creme shadows alone for the prettiest eyes this side of the party season. Or if you’re being more daring, use ‘heather’ as a base and layer ‘black violet’ into your crease and outer ‘V’ to give a purple alternative to the good old trusty smoky eye.
The ultimate, God of all creme shadows, the must have product for a metallic eye has to be the little pots of amazing-ness from Tom Ford. The price may be enough to cause your bank balance to have a melt down but for a well deserved treat to yourself, these are totally worth the £28 price tag. My favourite shade by a county mile has to be ‘plum’. It is hands down the most indulgent colour to grace the Tom Ford make up range and is fabulous worn alone. It’s the ideal colour for christmas. It’s all about the metallic eye right now and it’s a trend i’ll certainly be milking well into the New Year!
